What Homeowners Want!!

Finally, the public is starting to come around and realize that houses can be nearly everything they want and still be "green", sustainable, and reduce a family's carbon footprint. In a Yahoo! Study: American Dream Homes Turn Green ( http://realestate.yahoo.com/promo/yahoo-study-american-dream-homes-turn-green.html), author Rusty Weston reports the good news. Citing studies and reports from the NAHB, USGBC and Alliance to Save Energy, it looks like people are starting to value energy efficiency and make it a priority. That's good news for builders who are striving to make their homes less expensive to condition and more comfortable.

To see some outstanding energy efficient homes go to the EnergyValue Housing Award People's Choice website (http://www.nahbrc.com/evha/peopleschoice.aspx) to view the 2012 finalists. And while you're there, vote for your favorite energy efficient home. Interestingly, both new and remodeled homes are featured, proving that even an older home can have a new life as a more efficient cousin of the new home.
